เมื่อวันที่ 3 ก.ค. ที่ผ่านมาได้มีประสบการณ์ “Starbucks Coffee College” ในการเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับกาแฟ และลอง Aroma Lab ที่ทาง Starbucks จัดขึ้นสำหรับชาว Blogger ทั้งหลาย
ปกติเป็นคนชอบกาแฟ (ทั้งชอบกินและชอบถาม ต่อไปอาจชอบชง) จึงถือได้ว่าเป็นการเติมเต็มความรู้ด้านกาแฟของตัวเองมากๆ ค่ะ นัยว่า สิ่งที่เก็บเกี่ยวมาในเรื่องกาแฟนั้น เมื่อมีมาชนเราก็รับไว้ แต่ยังไม่ได้หาความรู้เพิ่มเติมเลย สิ่งที่ได้วันนี้ จึงเขียนเอาไว้แบ่งปันเผื่อมีใครร่วมแชร์กันอีกค่ะ
Starbucks: Coffee College
เริ่มจากกาแฟที่ Starbucks ใช้เนี่ยมาจาก 3 ทวีป ที่ Latin America, Afica/Arabia, และ Asia/Pacific
ที่แรกก้อลองกาแฟดำจาก Columbia รสชาติคล้ายถั่ว มีฝาดที่โคนลิ้น และน้ำหนักที่มากกว่าน้ำ (แต่ถ้าเทียบกับกาแฟด้วยกัน ยังน้องๆ อยู่) เป็นสิ่งที่คุณหนึ่ง (คุณพงษ์ศักดิ์ ลีนะเสน Starbucks Coffee Master & Learning & Development Manager) บรรยายให้ฟัง รู้สึกบ้างไม่รู้สึกบ้าง แต่คราวหน้าถ้าได้ลองแบบนี้อีกคงบรรยายความรู้สึกได้มากขึ้นแน่นอน
ต่อไปจากทวีปแอฟริกา ที่เราท่านไปกันทุกคืนช่วงนี้ 
คือกาแฟ จาก Kenya ได้รสชาติของสมุนไพร คล้ายๆ ที่ใส่แกง แต่คนอื่นบอกว่า รสสับปะรด รสส้ม น่ะค่ะ Wow…!!! น้ำหนักพอๆ กับแก้วแรก
สุดท้ายจากกาแฟจากเกาะสุมาตรา ประเทศอินโดนีเซีย (Sumatra, Indonesia) นี่เอง ลองหลับตาแล้วชิม จินตนาการจากรสชาติ พบว่า มันคล้ายๆ เห็ด ดิน แถมคุณหนึ่งยังบอกเพิ่มว่า คล้ายหลังฝนตก ป่า ธรรมชาติ น่าประทับใจมาก!!! เพราะได้ความรู้สึกนั้นจริงๆ ค่ะ

Starbucks: Supply Chain Management
จากที่เคยทำ Strategic Management Project เมื่อสัก 5-6 ปีที่แล้ว ได้สรุป Supply Chain Management ของ Starbucks Corporation ไว้พบว่า เค้าเน้นคุณค่าของสิ่งที่ได้มามากๆ ต้องคัดสรรคุณภาพ กันจริงๆ แต่การได้มาต้องทำเพื่อ Community ด้วย
The quality of the beans used to supply the stores begins with the growers. The supply managers worked to secure the highest quality of green coffee beans for the company. They would visit the countries where the beans were grown and develop relationships with the growers. Every day the objective of every person working in Starbucks’ supply chain operation is: What value has been delivered today to the shareholders and the customers? With this being the focus, Starbucks Corporation has created the ability to support their retail stores with the freshest product of anyone in the industry and cutting their required inventories in half through aggressive supply chain management, but still, the rapid growth of the market is considered as a difficulty to keep the quality high.
To protect its brand, the company had to be certain that these suppliers shared its commitment to corporate citizenship. In 2001, the company launched a pilot called the preferred supplier program to attract and reward farmers committed to socially and environmentally responsible farming. The company reasoned that the farms that took the best care of their employees and land would be the most sophisticated, responsive, and responsible suppliers — just the sort to help Starbucks fulfill its aggressive growth plan and realize economies of scale.
